WELCOME FROM WINY KHIN
I am Winy Khin, a Burmese designer dedicated to preserving and reinterpreting the rich textile traditions of my homeland. My work is deeply rooted in the artistry of handwoven fabrics—each piece a reflection of culture, craftsmanship, and identity.
From an early age, I was drawn to the beauty of Burmese weaving. The textures of cotton, the lustre of silk, and the rare delicacy of lotus fibre have long inspired my creative journey. Each material tells its own story: cotton speaks of comfort and resilience, silk of elegance and refinement, and lotus fabric of purity and devotion. The process of weaving lotus fibre, drawn carefully from the stems of the lotus plant, is a labour of love that embodies patience and spiritual grace.
Equally inspiring are the ethnic fabrics of Myanmar, created by diverse communities such as the Chin, Kachin, Shan, and Karen peoples. Their textiles are rich with symbolism—woven in bold colours and intricate patterns that reflect ancestral stories, beliefs, and ways of life. Each region’s weaving tradition carries its own rhythm and meaning, forming a vibrant tapestry of cultural expression.
For me, fashion is a bridge between heritage and innovation—a way to honour the past while shaping the future. Every piece I create carries the spirit of Myanmar’s artisans, woven with pride, authenticity, and quiet elegance.
Through my designs, I aim to bring these traditional techniques into a contemporary context, celebrating the artistry of Burmese and ethnic weavers while creating garments that feel timeless and modern.
And so, the threads continue—woven with memory, carried with grace. From the hands of the past to the hearts of today, the weave goes on.
