WELCOME FROM WINY KHIN

I am Winy Khin, a Burmese woman whose journey from the vibrant streets of Yangon, Myanmar, to the dynamic fashion scene of Bangkok reflects a passion for cultural heritage and a deep love for traditional textiles.

From a young age, I was captivated by the beauty of Burmese fabrics, especially the revered Loongaya (Lun-taya). This intricate handwoven fabric, known for its serpentine or zig-zag patterns in bright colors like red, yellow, and green, symbolizes the historical depth and timeless elegance of our heritage.

Another source of inspiration for me is the Chin textile. The Chin people, an ethnic group from Myanmar’s mountainous regions, are renowned for their vibrant cultural heritage and bold geometric patterns. Their textiles, woven with ancestral stories, embody a legacy of craftsmanship. Each piece reflects the beliefs, environment, and societal structure of the Chin community, offering a glimpse into their spiritual and social lives.

My dream of pursuing fashion became a reality when I had the opportunity to study at Central Saint Martins in London. Later, in Bangkok a city where tradition and modernity intersect, I founded WINY KHIN Fashion.

At WINY KHIN, each garment is created with respect for traditional craftsmanship while embracing modern aesthetics. These pieces are more than clothing; they are a celebration of heritage and contemporary style, telling a story of cultural pride and creativity.

Join me in celebrating this legacy, where the beauty of traditional Burmese textiles meets modern fashion. With every WINY KHIN creation, you’re not just wearing a garment, you’re embracing a rich tapestry of culture and creativity.

Wear the story, feel the culture.
